According to the city of Dilley, as of February 7th, five residents have filed their paperwork declaring candidacy for the three open city council seats:
Place #3 Filers:
Esmeralda Cano (incumbent) has served ten years (five terms) on Dilley’s city council since 2004.
Place #4 Filers:
Morelsa Aranda (incumbent) has served eighteen years (nine terms) on Dilley’s city council since she was first elected in 1999.
Sara Lee Kallio is a Dilley resident who works at Dilley ISD and has previously worked at Pearsall ISD.
Place #5 Filers:
Ray Aranda (incumbent) has served 17 consecutive years (eight-and-a-half terms) on Dilley’s city council since he first took office in 2001.
Joe Garcia is a lifelong Dilley resident who works at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, previously served on the Planning and Zoning Committee, and coached pee wee football.
The deadline for filing is February 16th.
